Pluma Migrant Writers Guild

Founded on September 14, 2013 in Kuwait, Pluma Migrant Writers Guild is an initiative which aims to promote writings of published and aspiring writers of poetry, fiction, drama, and whatnot, by emphasizing the plight of migrants, engage in informed discourse on contemporary Migration Literature, as well as cement the gaps among various civil societies and communities.

Writing about themes that highlight cultural diversity and cross-cultural relationships, Pluma is a writers’ collective whose works underline the significance of Literature as a way of bridging cultural boundaries and initiating cross-cultural dialogue through poetry reading, public forums, workshops, and creative writing activities, tackling issues prevalent in a multicultural platform, e.g. racism and cultural hostility, migrant rights, local integration, global political movements, border conflicts, and various influences in migration writings. The guild also seeks to mediate between various social strata and achieve its humanitarian goals.

Pluma recognizes the need to build a collaborative environment of inclusiveness, become staunch advocates of an emphatic world, underline the various facets of intercultural communication, and groundbreak new dimensions in the convergence of individuals, while maintaining a synergistic posture amidst the challenges faced by the people in the diaspora.

Pluma writers have embraced the demands of an altruistic outlook, hence, withstanding certain challenges, as a group of dynamic wordsmiths showing genuine dedication and resolve in representing the voice of migrants of distinct cultural backgrounds.
